He graduated from Glendale College of Law in June of 1977, and he was "sworn in" to practice law in December of 1977. He remained in the Glendale/Sherman Oaks area of Southern California for a year and a half working for an Attorney who did primarily Criminal and Civil litigation.

Since moving to Paso Robles in 1979, he has been the primary litigation attorney for most all of the cases in the law firm of Eschwig & Gustin, even when there were two other attorneys working in said firm. Two of those Attorneys that worked for him, at one time or another, have become Superior Court Commissioners in San Luis Obispo County. Also, he has had one legal secretary and two law clerks who worked for him that have become attorneys.

He has served as a Judge-Pro-Tem many times over the years as well as serving as an arbitrator on numerous matters. Additionally, he has served as a legal coach for the Paso Robles High School Mock Trial team or as a scorer for the competition since that program was reinstated in this county in 1998.
